Plitvice: a frozen paradise
The Plitvice Lakes are heaven on earth. They always are, but in winter they are something absolutely spectacular. Imagine a wonderful park, dotted with waterfalls, streams, all frozen. ALL FROZEN! Fabulous. I absolutely recommend it. From Milan by car it takes about 7 hours, on the road there are several beautiful woods to stop in, both in Italy and outside (for example Ljubljana). If you are taking a trip to the Balkans, you can get there from Zagreb (two hours by bus) or even from the coast. Waterfalls, even tens of meters high, and frozen streams, a path that lasts two hours and that includes, weather permitting, even the crossing of the lake on the boat. Absolutely recommended.
